Changed the name of my blog today. From "Memories" to "Footprints on the sands of time".
This title is a line in H.W.Longfellow's poem "The Psalm of life". (Psalm - sacred song or hymn), which btw is my father's favourite poem.
Felt this would be a more apt title, since whatever I have written is the re-rendition of the "footprints" left by people and experiences through time.
You can find the poem at The Psalm of Life

View from the Window
We moved to a diff floor at work the previous week.
And i am delighted!!!
I am now in a cubicle which is colorful and bright..and which gives me a pleasant and much needed view of the outside world..
through a window!!
Here I am comfortably settled in my new cube....
Took a moment to watch the world outside...and what did i find???
the clear blue sky with dashes of white clouds thrown in..
the lush green trees swaying to a gentle breeze..
the birds hoping along the branches of these trees, flying across the sky...
God's canvas is truly so colorful and diverse...
For now, I ignored the concrete monsters raising their ugly heads all around, the chaotic roads and the vehicles honking away to glory!!!
The necessary evils of urban development i suppose...
The window now furnishes as the only link i have to spare a moment and appreciate the hues and diversities of the world as opposed to the monotonous existence amidst the four walls through the better part of a weekday...
With great effort, I pull hard on the reins of my wandering mind...
And so, its back to work again!!!

A blessing named FRIENDSHIP
Came across a saying in a mail sent by my friend:
"Dont cry because its over, smile because it happened."
I was suddenly transported back to my 2nd year in college. If i had come across this saying then, i would never have agreed with it.
it was then that i lost a dear friend..
We (our gang of friends) found it impossible to shake-off the overwhelming sadness around us.
Ya life goes on...but who could forget him, his laugh, his passion for blue (nag used to always exclaim.."blue shoes!!!), his own unique style of telling "bhuTTA"...not us...and we never will..
It was at this time that our circle of a still-developing bond of friendship turned rock solid...a loss of a friend drew us closer..oh!! the irony of it all...
Its easy to be a part of a friend's happiness, but to be part of a friend's sadness takes determination, love and unrelenting support...
Life's chapters (no matter how short they are) teach us lessons that mould us into better human beings...and thats what matters in the end.
We all moved on, and we indeed remember our friend with a smile..YES!! a smile...because the friendship happened!!! And i am thankful to God for it.

Finally
Jumped on the blog bandwagon finally....
too late u say????? i say better late than never!!
To start off let me publish one of my favourite quote , which btw i picked up from my sis' collection. :-)
Whenever you're called on to make up your mind,
and you're hampered by not having any,
the best way to solve the dilemma, you'll find,
is simply by spinning a penny.
No - not so that chance shall decide the affair
while you're passively standing there moping;
but the moment the penny is up in the air,
you suddenly know what you're hoping.
-Piet Hein, poet and scientist (1905-1996)
